Dem(the)ocracy In Action

Are the losers poor sports, or was the election rigged? In a country like Iran, where "Democracy" is a thinly veiled front used by the ruling theocracy to make the people feel good, the latter is certainly highly probable. As people take to the streets to protest, we can begin to see just how thin the veil really is.

When the ruling class threatens to squash media outlets who are reporting on the country's dirty laundry, it's safe to say that their "Democracy" is in trouble.

The question I pose is: If Mir Hossein Moussavi won, would there be protestors as well, just with different faces? I believe the answer is yes, with the outcome the same. This is what happens when a country who isn't ready to work with Democracy has Democracy forced upon them.

I don't know if I agree that democracy was forced upon the Iranians. I think it may just be an illusion to make the ruling theocracy more paltable.
